About the role of Certified Medical Assistant:

Are you looking for an opportunity to help set a new standard for Primary Care, one based on the quality of care, not the quantity of patient visits?  Kinwell is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Redmond, WA clinic. We are leveraging our investment from Washington’s largest not-for-profit health plan, Premera Blue Cross, to create a primary care offering that is holistic, seamless, and care centric. 

A Medical Assistant at Kinwell assists with prepping charts for daily appointments, managing the patient’s appointment schedule, maintaining the cleanliness and supplies in the patient exam and waiting area, communicating patient status and needs to the clinician and assisting with check-out and follow up duties for patients. This important support role is fully responsible for managing all aspects of the patient greeting and check-in. A Medical Assistant works under direct supervision of a healthcare practitioner to use their clinical knowledge and skills to assist in meeting the healthcare needs of our patients.

What you’ll do:

  • Greet patients and prepare them for physical examinations, including obtaining vital signs, weight, height, reviewing medications and medical history, allergies, and performing all ancillary tests required.
  • Assist physicians during examination and treatment.
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock rooms with required supplies.
  • Operate and maintain autoclave machine in accordance with policy and procedures that meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and operate all clinical equipment including calibration and record keeping in accordance with the current policy and procedure and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Perform ancillary testing and tasks as ordered by the supervising practitioner.
  • Assist in surgical tray set up and injury or acute care as directed by the treating physician.
  • Maintain the lab supplies, equipment, rapid testing and all required record keeping, and quality assurance duties as required by CLIA.
  • Dispense medications and appliances, applying bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the physician.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat, clean and orderly appearance in the center throughout the day.
  • Assist PCC with managing clinic and clinician schedules to maximize efficiency.
  • Facilitate daily huddle review of visit schedule for any patients requiring assistance from multiple care team resources or who have special needs or considerations for a successful visit.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules as outlined in training.
  • Attend and participate in team huddles, center staff meetings, ongoing training.
  • Perform all duties to achieve or exceed established and desired service standards and create a delightful patient experience before, during and after the visit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

What you’ll bring:

  • Associate's degree and 3 years’ experience or 5-years’ medical assisting experience in a clinic setting.
  • Washington State Medical Assistant Certified or Medical Assistant Interim certification, WA State Only.
  • Clinical competencies to perform the duties of a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
  • Customer service skills to ensure an enjoyable and pleasant check in, check out as well as pre and post appointment interaction.
  • Excellent phone communication and ability to gather history and current conditions from patients prior to appointments.
  • Skilled in operating computer in a Windows environment utilizing Outlook, Work, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with associates and management at all levels.
  • Independent decision-making skills and ability to influence others to resolve issues.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team or independently without supervision or direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discrete and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent critical thinking, flexibility, problem solving and communication skills. (Preferred)
  • An interest in growing and developing skills and knowledge to be able to take on larger tasks or roles. (Preferred)
  • Experience using EPIC. (Preferred)

National Plus Salary Range:

$48,500.00 - $72,800.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
