SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide clinical and administrative support services in the ambulatory care setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Apply correct and up-to-date pharmacological principles in administering medication and perform venipuncture and administer immunizations for adults and pediatric populations.
- Perform basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage needs.
- Prepare for the initial care of the patients by rooming patients, taking vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, respirations) and completing patient history.
- Complete waive testing and specimen collections as required.
- Respond to internal and external customer needs in a positive manner (smile and greet, positive demeanor), exceeding their needs and expectations in order to provide the highest quality service and ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Review and prep medical chart and quality measure requirements in preparation of patient visit.
- Perform daily set up of examination rooms, including checking for cleanliness, stocking of supplies and review for Joint Commission compliance.
- Screen patients without appointments and present medical information to the RN Health Administrator and/or Provider.
- Respond to patient, pharmacy, hospital and physician inquiries by telephone, fax and email.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments as necessary.
- Completes all assigned administrative/phone messages, and patient case tasks within the electronic record system by the close of business.
- Practice standard universal precautions, including proper hand washing technique, in caring for the patient as well as in administering medications and performing or assisting with procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Medical Assistant - Completion of a Medical Assistant program (diploma or certificate)
- Certified Medical Assistant - Completion of a Medical Assistant program (diploma or certificate) and registered/certified through passing the AMT Certification exam.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work late evening hours
- Ability to work some weekend hours
- Ability to work some holidays
- Ability to travel to and work at other clinics as needed
