Position Overview:

We are seeking a Molecular Technologist with a FL license and ASCP MB certification at Cancer Cell Diagnostics.

You will perform complex technical work involving the molecular analysis of human biological materials, using advanced techniques such as NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) and liquid biopsy. You will be critical in ensuring diagnostic accuracy and supporting cutting-edge cancer diagnostics. Your work will be pivotal in advancing personalized cancer care and driving innovation in cancer detection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in Next-Generation sequencing (NGS) using the Ion Torrent platform, proficiently executing Real-Time PCR assays for gene expression analysis, mutation detection, and other molecular assays.
  • Experienced in nucleic acid extraction (DNA, RNA) from a very limited number of cells with precision and accuracy
  • Familiar with cell biology to maintain and culture primary cells as well as a wide range of different cell lines
  • Evaluate results to identify interference, inhibition, or assay-related issues, ensuring high analytical accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory standards, including proficiency testing, assay validation, and documentation of SOP reviews.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control measures and actively contribute to process validation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Isolate nucleic acids from various clinical specimen types, ensuring optimal processing efficiency and turnaround times.
  • Utilize automation and advanced laboratory instrumentation for nucleic acid extraction, reagent preparation, and sample handling.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment through routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate data records, test results, and instrument logs, ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
  • Operate and troubleshoot LIS and specialized laboratory software to streamline reporting and analysis.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate emerging technologies and process improvements into diagnostic workflows.
  • Mentor and train laboratory personnel, ensuring adherence to high-performance standards and ongoing professional development.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs and training materials to support operational consistency.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and clinically actionable diagnostic results, supporting personalized treatment plans and improving patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to research, development, and validation of new assays and methodologies to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to laboratory policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime when necessary, and meet the physical requirements of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biological Science, or related fields.
  • Licensure: FL License Technologist or Supervisor with Molecular as a specialty (required).
  • Certification: ASCP MB (required).
  • Experience: Experience in molecular biology techniques, including NGS, liquid biopsy, and PCR-based assays, is preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with CLIA and CAP standards for diagnostic laboratories.

Academic Hours: Must meet the Florida CLS academic requirementsβ€”24 semester hours of educational science, including 6 semester hours of biological sciences and 6 semester hours of chemical sciences.
