PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Staff Pharmacist at our mail order pharmacy, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient dispensing of prescription medications through mail order pharmacy services. This position involves accurately verifying and filling prescriptions, providing pharmaceutical counseling to patients, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. You will work in collaboration with pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients, embodying our core values of integrity, compassion, dedication, collaboration, and resourcefulness.

This position will report directly to the COO, Pharmacy Division.

 

KEY TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Prescription Verification and Dispensing:
  • Review and verify prescription orders for accuracy and appropriateness with unwavering integrity.
  • Accurately dispense prescription medications, ensuring proper labeling and packaging, while showing compassion for patients' well-being.
  • Maintain a strong focus on medication safety, preventing errors, and addressing any potential issues promptly.
  1. Patient Counseling:
  • Provide medication counseling to patients with dedication, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Address patients' questions regarding their medications with empathy and compassion.
  • Offer guidance on medication adherence and lifestyle modifications to optimize outcomes.
  1. Medication Management:
  • Manage medication inventory with resourcefulness, including ordering, receiving, and restocking.
  • Monitor medication storage conditions to ensure stability and compliance with regulations, upholding our commitment to integrity.
  • Conduct routine inspections and quality checks to maintain the highest standards of care.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay up to date with federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices, demonstrating our dedication to compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of all prescription transactions and required documentation.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and prescribers to resolve medication-related issues, showcasing your collaborative spirit.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy technicians and support staff to streamline workflow and maintain efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of pharmacy quality improvement initiatives through teamwork.

  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner, embodying compassion.
  • Maintain a patient-centric approach, ensuring a positive patient experience with each interaction.
  1. Continuing Education:
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with emerging pharmaceutical trends and therapies, demonstrating dedication to lifelong learning.
  • Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills with resourcefulness.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Pharm. D. degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Valid licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of Texas.
  • Maintain education and certifications as required by applicable State Board of Pharmacy.

WORKING CONDITIONS
