Experience working with an acute and chronic adult inpatient population is required, and forensic
population.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of
medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.
Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.
Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental
status examination) and entering admission orders.
Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.
Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate
follow-up or referrals as needed.
Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.
Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are
valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.
Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is
completed.
Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.
Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.
Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient
records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
