The Role

Join a thriving service in this rewarding role, where youll provide critical assessments for families and adults as part of the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team. Focusing on children referred via HSE / NHS Patient Choice and GP pathways for autism and/or ADHD assessments, this position offers flexibility with hybrid or remote working options. Opportunities are available across multiple sites in the UK and Ireland.

The role blends remote and hybrid working to suit clinicians with varying experience levels and locations, including senior positions. For hybrid roles, travel to the Newcastle office is required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing specialist diagnostic assessments for autism and/or ADHD using established tools, with occasional mental health assessments as needed.
  • Preparing detailed, professional assessment reports with actionable recommendations and interventions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff (based on experience).

Assessments are primarily conducted on behalf of HSE/NHS via GP referrals, with some tasks manageable remotely, offering flexibility and work-life balance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Relevant degree in Psychology.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental or specialist developmental assessments with children and young people.
  • Clinical experience supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties.
  • In-depth knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and appropriate assessment tools for autism and ADHD.
  • Proficiency in differential diagnosis.
  • Ideally trained in ADOS-2 and/or ADI-R
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with strong report-writing and record-keeping abilities.
  • A collaborative team player comfortable in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Additional qualifications in autism, ADHD, or related fields are highly desirable.
