Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Psychologist to join our team, providing expert psychological services and advice to the Federal Occupational Health Service (FOHS) and other Federal government agencies. The incumbent will perform psychological evaluations, provide witness testimony, and offer expert guidance on occupational health issues related to mental and behavioral health. This role requires a deep understanding of Federal regulations, the ability to work within specific security programs, and the capacity to make critical determinations regarding employee suitability for specific roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Psychological Services:

    • Provide expert advice to FOHS and Federal government agencies on occupational health issues involving mental or behavioral health.
    • Perform psychological evaluations to assess fitness for duty or reasonable accommodation for Federal employees.
    • Offer witness testimony in support of psychological evaluations and recommendations, particularly concerning fitness for duty and reasonable accommodation cases.
    • Communicate regularly with the Senior Occupational Medical Director (SOMD) regarding psychological program issues and employee suitability.
  2. DOE Site-Specific Responsibilities:

    • Provide psychological services to specific groups, including Federal agents, Federal Agent Candidates, and staff, ensuring accommodation within the required time frames.
    • Gain and maintain familiarity with customer agency-specific security programs, including 10 CFR 712, and apply these requirements in all interactions with customer agency employees.
    • Attend and participate in the customer agency's annual security briefing.
    • Administer and interpret the following psychological assessments in alignment with customer agency requirements:
      • MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2)
      • IPAT (16 Personality Factor Questionnaire)
      • Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI)
      • CAGE or other substance abuse identification tools
    • Conduct agency-specific annual clinical structured interviews and become proficient in using required forms.
    • Determine position suitability for customer agency employees based on psychological interviews, test results, job task analysis, and medical standards provided by the customer agency.
    • Notify the customer agency immediately if a Federal agent, Federal Agent Recruit, or staff member fails the psychological component of the medical standards or is deemed unable to perform their job safely, securely, and reliably.
    • Attend the customer agency's annual medical conference, which may require out-of-town travel.
  3. Lead Psychologist Responsibilities (Albuquerque Site):

    • Serve as the Lead Psychologist, interfacing with the customer agency and consulting with the SOMD or other psychologists as needed.
    • Assist the customer agency with implementing new psychological tests, forms, and programs.
    • Oversee the evaluation of the Psych Program, including the assessment of secure information as it pertains to Federal agents, Federal Agent Recruits, and staff.
    • Make final psychological recommendations in difficult cases involving customer agency employees.
    • Facilitate semi-annual psychological updates and provide training on new forms, tests, and other relevant materials.
    • Address any other psych-related issues as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Psychology.
  • Licensure: Current license to practice psychology.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the Federal government sector.
  • Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft applications and basic computer and website functions.

Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of Federal safety and health regulations, especially as they pertain to mental and behavioral health.
  • Strong expertise in administering and interpreting psychological assessments.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise witness testimony.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Federal agencies and employees.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Flexibility to travel as required and to work independently or as part of a team.

Compensation - Min: $100,000| Max: $160,000

This position is in the proposal stage, we are waiting to be awarded the project.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
