Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Psychologist Senior position who will serve as the Chief Psychologist for the Specialty Services division. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide a full array of psychological services to inpatient adults with severe, persistent mental illness, including but not limited to individual and group psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and individualized treatment and behavioral planning. The ideal candidate will have broad-based knowledge of psychological theory, psychopathology, assessment, and treatment approaches, along with clinical experience treating a wide range of clinical presentations, such as patients with severe and persistent mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, neurocognitive, and characterological disorders. This position will be assigned as a supervisory psychologist to the Specialty Services division, where they will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Participation as faculty in the APA-accredited internship program is expected.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Providing individual, group and family psychotherapy;
  • Conducting psychological evaluations;
  • Performing behavioral, substance abuse, and other types of assessments and treatments;
  • Determining violence and suicide risk;
  • Assessing and treating various psycholegal issues, including capacity to proceed and sexual offending;
  • Developing comprehensive treatment plans;
  • Offering testimony in civil commitment and/or other legal proceedings as needed
  • Supporting the training programs supported by the hospital and the Psychology department, including supervising postdoctoral residents, predoctoral interns, Master's level and undergraduate practicum students, and serving as a faculty member of the predoctoral internship program; and
  • Offering expert didactic training for students and other staff, as needed.
 
The normal working schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, flexibility is required to meet training requirements and the needs of the hospital.  
 
This position is designated Mandatory and must report during adverse weather events.

Management prefers candidates with the following:
  • Experience conducting psychological assessments such as cognitive and/or personality assessments.
  • Experience providing a wide range of clinical treatment/interventions.
  • Experience with program development and positive systems development.
  • Prior supervisory experience
