LMSW/LCSW Social Worker/Therapist - Job Description

The Child Center of NY is an accredited behavioral health program under NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse (OASAS). The therapeutic services that the master's social worker position provides will qualify for clinical hours toward most credentials such as LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC and LMFT. Clinical supervision is also provided on a consistent basis. The Master's Social Worker is responsible for providing individual and group counseling and direct service to children, teens, adults and their families. This position allows for clinical experience working with a diverse population in a bilingual setting. Services include screening and assessment, treatment planning, provision of counseling/psychotherapy and crisis intervention. The Master's Social Worker is a member of the treatment team and collaborates with other team members.

Essential Functions:  

● Provide direct psychotherapy/counseling to clients using a variety of mental health modalities and interventions in order to help them maximize their level of functioning.   

● Maintain appropriate professional patient care documentation in the agency selected Electronic Health Record (EHR), including client assessment and individual notes in compliance with all city, state and federal standards of practice.   

● Complete intake processes for clients  

● Facilitates the client’s utilization of available support systems and community resources to meet needs identified in clinical evaluation or treatment planning.   

● Meet on a weekly basis with supervisor to discuss achievement of program targets, client goals, quality of client care and reporting requirements.  

● May attend case reviews and develop next steps for the families and clinicians  

● Meets data metric requirements, quality of care expectations using traditional social work interventions, or evidence-based models.  

● Performs other related duties as assigned.   


Minimum Qualifications:   

● Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work.  

● Bilingual: Bengali

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office.  

● Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.  

● Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.   


Qualifications Preferred:  

● LMSW or LCSW certification   

● Experience with Electronic Health Record  


Required Work Schedule:

Evenings required.
