The Nemours Division of Psychiatry includes a team of psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who work closely in tandem with staff psychologists within the Division of Psychology and neuropsychologists in the Division of Pediatric Neurology. The division of Psychiatry is part of the Department of Pediatrics and collaborates closely with the various medical and surgical divisions within Nemours Children’s Specialty Care (NCSC), as well as numerous community primary care practices.

Job Description

Nemours Children’s Specialty Care (NSCS) in Jacksonville, FL is seeking two BC/BE pediatric psychiatrists to join its growing hospital and outpatient psychiatry mental health care team.

Candidates with teaching, pediatric medical training, and/or research interests are highly valued, but are not a requirement for consideration for hire. Candidates with leadership interest are strongly encouraged to apply, due opportunities for professional growth into a leadership position for the appropriately experienced and qualified applicant.

The pediatric psychiatry position involves a comprehensive clinical experience with a wide variety of clinical roles and responsibilities, including inpatient, Daystay (PHP/IOP), consultation-liaison, and outpatient clinical services. In addition, there are academic responsibilities at University of Florida and Mayo Clinic, with clinical appointments available to qualified candidates.

Education/Certifications/Licensure

  • Current board eligibility or board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology (ABPN)

  • Possess a valid Florida medical license

  • Qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine and an appointment to the Medial Staff of the Wolfson Children’s Hospital. 

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications/Experience

  • Demonstration of strong interest and commitment to pediatric patients with a wide spectrum of medical or mental health problems.

  • Interested in working with and/or past experience with hospital based care and close, respectful working relationships with nurse practitioners, psychologists and nursing staff.

  • Interest in developing and implementing care models and outcomes that are evidence based to ensure delivery of high quality, cost effective healthcare using quality measures and performance improvement.

  • Interest and experience in working with a population that has a number of economic, health and educational disparities. Cultural sensitivity, appreciation and interest in improving the health of an underserved population.

  • Interest in scholarly activity as evidenced by recent scholarly publications including participation in specialty society organizations and/or peer-reviewed research funding and active involvement with national or regional professional societies preferred but not required.
