POSITION SUMMARY:
The CMA is cross trained to perform administrative and clinical tasks. Duties include helping with patient records and chart prep, preparing patients and rooms for exams, assisting patients with exams, and other clinical tasks as assigned. Position requires MA’s to work alongside practitioners and are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease during their visit. Must be team player with positive attitude and may be trained to cover family practice or specialty clinic as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform routine pre-examination procedures including taking vital signs, assessing and recording objective and subjective data concerning presenting condition.
Assist physician with examinations and procedures.
Prepare and clean the patient area: set up equipment, clean and facilitate room set up after a procedure.
Perform patient care measures as requested by provider.
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and co-workers.
Maintain and ensure confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Maintain a system for accurately recording and reporting patient conditions in the Electronic Medical Record.
Follow providers directive regarding communication to patients (i.e. test results, medication changes, etc.).
Check equipment daily and/or prior to use.
Follow all SMH RHC policies and procedures.
Attend required meetings/trainings and participate in committees as required.
Demonstrate appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Medical Assistant certification required.
Previous MA experience or clinic experience preferred.
Previous admitting/registration experience preferred.
Knowledge and relevant experience in a medical office setting.
BLS certification.
