PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY:      Responsible for managing oral health hygiene status of patients under direction of dental director.  Assists dental outreach program coordinator with off-site oral health screenings.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1)    Direct Patient Care Activities

 a)      Responsible for assessing/obtaining clinical evidence of patient’s oral health status

       b)     Responsible for assessing patient’s medical history

       c)     Exposes appropriate radiographic images for the purpose of diagnoses and treatment of dental  conditions

d)         Provides appropriate treatment for periodontal disease conditions and routine oral hygiene maintenance for indicated patients in conjunction with dentist

2)     Communication and Health Information Entered into Record

        a)     Educates patient and parents of minors in all aspects of oral hygiene care

        b)     Enters appropriate treatment information into patient record in a timely fashion

        c)     Communicates patient’s oral health status to dentist to insure adequate provision of care

        d)     Periodontal charting completed accurately in accordance with patient’s oral health status

        e)      Progress notes entered into electronic record to insure appropriate ongoing patient care

 3)     Community Outreach Functions

         a)     Plans and organizes community outreach activities such as school screenings and meetings  with community partners

          b)     Completes school screenings in and organized, thorough and professional manner

          c)     Enters accumulated data into appropriate computer systems

          d)     Analyzes data and prepares reports in collaboration with the Dental Outreach Coordinator

 

PROFESSIONAL &TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

 Job duties requires knowledge and training specific to the discipline of dental hygiene acquired in a formal   dental hygiene training program

 LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  Must have Dental Hygiene license with the State of Washington
