POSITION SUMMARY: Expanded Functions Dental Assistants are responsible for all of the tasks of a Dental Assistant. The scope of the work encompasses a variety of clinical duties which promote effective and efficient operation of the practice and fosters favorable public relations with patients, staff, dentists of the practice and all external customers
JOB DUTIES:
• Performs clinical functions that provide support to the office.
• Morning procedure of turning on equipment including: ultrasonics, autoclave, operatory chairs, computers and x-ray scanner.
• Fabricating, placing and removing temporary crowns or temporary bridges.
• Place and remove matrices, rubber dams and wedges.
• Apply cavity liners and bases.
• Place, condense, carve and contour amalgam restorations.
• Place and finish composite resin restorations.
• Place sealants.
• Perform coronal polishing.
• Performs fluoride treatments, including fluoride varnish.
• Takes impressions of teeth, athletic appliances or occlusal guards.
• Maintains clean treatment rooms in compliance with all CDC and OSHA regulations.
• Set up and turn over room in efficient manner.
• Is aware of schedule changes, and other procedures in order to prioritize actions.
• Maintains inventory control by notifying person responsible for ordering.
• Adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Maintains CPR, radiology certificate, and CE credit hours to maintain EFDA certification.
• Assist in front office when time allows.
• Perform other duties as requested by Practice Administrator or dentists.
• Notifies Practice Administrator in timely manner and according to policy when out sick.
• Conducts self in a professional manner at all times.
