OVERVIEW


East Carolina Anesthesia Associates (ECAA) is the largest and most stable anesthesia private practice in the Mid Atlantic. Our private practice has been in operation for over 50 years. We have succeeded by providing the highest quality and innovative care to our patients.


Due to Operation Room expansion, our Wilmington location, Wilmington SurgCare is seeking a full-time anesthesiologist.


Great case mix, established group, and regional blocks on healthy patients – general outpatient surgery, ortho, urology, ENT, spine, etc. Healthy pediatric cases. An efficient team model works collaboratively in a medically directed environment, to achieve superior outcomes. Excellent opportunity, available because of site expansion.

The physician is free to choose 1099 or W2 work status. Start date is immediate. For W2 FTE we offer a lucrative benefits package including a full spectrum of insurance, malpractice, disability, retirement, and Paid Time Off.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Prepares and administers general and regional anesthetics and pain medication, adjusting as needed before, during, and after surgery and other procedures.

  • Provides anesthesia maintenance and adjustment before, during, and after procedures.

  • Maintains patient records.

  • Orders diagnostic tests as needed.

  • Works closely with surgical specialists.

  • Performs venous and arterial punctures.

  • Performs pre-anesthesia patient evaluation.

  • Provides post-anesthesia care and evaluation.

  • Provides and monitors mechanical ventilation.

  • Communicate with patients, and their families and caregivers.

  • Reacts appropriately to adverse reactions and complications.

  • Evaluates patient histories, lab results, and surgical plans to determine an appropriate anesthesia and pain management plan.

  • Monitors patient fluid, blood, and electrolyte balance, and other vital signs and critical functions during course of procedures.

  • Performs tracheal intubation, airway management, and extubation.

  • Monitors patients following procedures to determine when they can be safely moved from one stage of recovery to the next.

  • Takes detailed medical history to determine possible allergic or negative reactions to medication.

  • Supervises registered nurse anesthetists and other technical staff.

  • Mentors and supervises anesthesiology interns, residents, and fellows.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • BC/BE anesthesiologist; no fellowship required

  • Must have an active NC Statle License, or in the process of obtaining one

  • Active ACLS and PALS card
