Description

 We need an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to work alongside our wonderful Family Medicine Provider. Our MA's work under the supervision of a nurse supervisor and provider. Records all appropriate medical information from patient encounters into the Electronic Medical Records to ensure medical documentation supports both quality care and appropriate billing. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others, and functions as a member of the healthcare team. Perform department specific duties as assigned. Will be required to maintain tier level appropriate to position. 

  

Medical Assistant III (Direct Support)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or at least 3 years as a Medical Assistant (MA) with expectation of certification within 120 days of hire.

  • Performs selected duties, limited intake evaluation, vital signs. 
  • Participate in competency needs and assessments annually. 
  • Customer service training using AIDET.
  • Assists providers with duties as assigned.
  • Stock and clean exam rooms, maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare patient for appropriate treatment and exam. 
  • Enhance professional growth and development through meetings and education.
  • Knowledge of each provider’s protocols.
  • Maintain working knowledge of computer systems.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of patient electronic orders, per department protocol.
  • Wear identification while on duty.
  • Prioritize work efficiently.
  • Maintain/review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Display ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care.
  • Pull material and set up room for patient procedures.
  • Be able to plan and complete delegated tasks.
  • Confident in checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
  • Comply with HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Manage desktop and flags appropriately. 
  • Know the internal requirements for prior authorization
  • Provides information on procedures to patients at providers request and answers patients’ questions regarding care   instructions to comply with scope of practice. 
  • Perform Point of Care Testing (POCT).
  • Communicate normal test results
  • Understanding of Value Based Revenue (VBR)
  • Assist patients as needed with various tasks including but not limited to collecting of specimens. 
  • Communicates test results to patients under the direction of the provider.
  • Practice sterile technique when appropriate for in-office procedures.
  • Serve as a patient advocate to enable informed consent at the request of the provider and answer questions regarding care instructions. 
  • Provide direct patient care while working with a provider. 
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities as assigned   which may include sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining   lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information etc.; complete forms   as needed; schedule appointments and manage charts.
  • Able to work as a direct support and a Care Team Coordinator. 
  • Check for external records prior to patient appointments. 
  • Answer telephones and direct calls appropriately. 
  • Scribe telephone messages for the nurses and route to the appropriate staff. 
  • Help with scheduling of tests and/or treatment at the office or at another facility.
  • Communicate abnormal test results as directed by a provider
  • Correctly draw up medications.
  • Give injections and immunizations. 
  • Preceptor for new hires.
