Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our team!


 


 


JOB SUMMARY:


Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission of outpatient testing or procedures. Ensures that the patient’s information is collected, entered in the computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of Urgent Care policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer. Distributes appropriate information to all ancillary departments. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Responsible for pre-registering patients for scheduled appointments and outpatient procedures, obtaining personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.

  2. Responsible for obtaining signature on Consent Forms and ABN’s.

  3. Schedules provider appointments and maintains EMR system records.

  4. Obtains preauthorization from insurance companies and schedules procedures with outside facilities.

  5. Processes all incoming referrals, faxes, and record requests and ensures documents are scanned into EMR records.

  6. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, nurses, co-workers and physicians.

  7. Receive patient payments on admission and discharge. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.

  8. Responsible, when previous arrangements have been made or a co-payment is required, to collect such payments and record payment.

  9. Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.

  10. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function well in stressful situations.

  11. Treats all patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality for patient records.

  12. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

  13. Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings and completes annual educational requirements.

  14. Attends all other meetings as required.

  15. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.

  16. Must maintain accurate time clock punches; punch in and out according to hospital policy.

  17. Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional and timely manner.

  18. Must maintain a professional attitude.

  19. Responsible for admitting walk-in patients as part of EMTALA guidelines.

  20. The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).




Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.




Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system as needed, and operate basic computer functions and software.




Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.




Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.






Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.




Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others
