Overview

The Medical Receptionist (MR) supports delivery of patient care by providing clerical and receptionist services to patients, visitors, staff, and all other customer service needs with regular guidance. Facilitates efficient patient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology and excels in effective communication.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Highest level of customer service, compassion, professionalism and empathy to all patients at all times.
  • Check-in patients as they arrive for appointments.
  • Confirmation of patient current demographics at each visit to certify current phone, address and insurance information.
  • Schedule new and recurring patient appointments for mid-level provider (PA or NP), physicians and other clinical providers.
  • Continuously auditing schedules for accuracy and making adjustments when needed.
  • Call patients who have missed appointments to re-engage in treatment.
  • Send prior authorizations to insurance companies as needed.
  • Provide each patient with required forms and handbook when establishing or re-establishing care. Once completed by patient, certify accuracy and make corrections with patient if needed.
  • Process collections on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Scanning of patient documents into ARES Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Participate in daily huddles and team meetings.
  • General maintenance of professional appearance of the office, watering plants, garbage removal, etc., and oversight of inter-office cleaning and organization.
  • Answering incoming calls and checking messages regularly on a multi-line phone
  • Collecting co-payments and facilitating payment plans.
  • All other tasks or projects, as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • This position is subject to a background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities.
  • This position must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a fast-paced medical office preferred.
