POSITION SUMMARY: This is very exciting opportunity to work the Family Health Center Mobile unit servicing the children of Kalamazoo Public Schools, Charter Schools, and Preschools. This position will begin in Fall of 2024.
SHIFTS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, 9AM to 2:30PM. The right candidate(s) have the ability to select the shifts they are available to work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately chart each patient’s periodontal health.
- Counsel patients on oral health, including the role of nutrition.
- Check on patient comfort during treatment and help allay patient anxiety.
- Apply cavity-preventative agents, such as fluorides and sealants.
- Perform thorough and gentle prophylaxis to patients.
- Accurately and appropriately record provided treatment.
- Take radiographs for patients as prescribed by dentist.
- Administer local anesthetics, if allowed by dental practice act.
- Perform scaling, root planning and selective polishing or patients as appropriate.
- Review patient health and dental history forms and update as necessary.
- Oversee cleanliness of the treatment room according to sterilization procedures.
- Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with office policies and procedures and all applicable legal requirements, such as the HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of Michigan.
- Experience with Dentrix preferred.

- A majority of time on the job is spent walking and standing with occasional sitting and/or stooping.
- At times this position may require weight to be lifted up to 25 pounds.
