TEMP POSITION 

SUMMARY

The Office Supervisor/Medical Assistant will provide management and leadership to the administrative team and clinical job duties for the clinical facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Trains staff on completing medical office administrative procedures.
  • Supervises front desk receptionists and medical assistants and back office staff
  • Assists with payroll duties.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Reconciles account information.
  • Coordinates cross coverage of staff as needed.
  • Assists in conducting employee performance reviews.
  • Performs data entry and processing.
  • Enforces office policies and procedures.
  • Generates inventory records.
  • Provides educational material for patients.
  • Obtains medical history and chief complaint.
  • Verify patient's health insurance coverage.
  • Records information for each patient encounter such as medical procedure and diagnostic tests performed by physician or licensed personnel.
  • Provides feedback, verbally and in writing, to licensed professional staff regarding client needs and community responses to health services and programs.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. 
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. 
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential. Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions. 
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate required.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • 3 year or more of medical assistant experience is preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with good interpersonal, prioritization, and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong organization and leadership skills
  • Must be familiar with EHR/EMR system.
