The Pediatric Dental Assistant supports the pediatric dentist in providing excellent patient care to children from infancy through adolescence. This role involves assisting during dental procedures, educating patients and parents on oral hygiene, and ensuring a positive, calming environment for young patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare treatment rooms and instruments for pediatric dental procedures.

  • Assist the dentist during various procedures such as cleanings, fillings, sealants, crowns, and extractions.

  • Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays).

  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.

  • Educate children and their guardians on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care.

  • Provide behavior guidance techniques to help children feel comfortable and safe.

  • Chart patient information and update dental records accurately.

  • Maintain infection control and adhere to safety procedures.

  • Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed.

  • Schedule appointments and assist with front-desk duties if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Completion of an accredited dental assistant program preferred.

  • Current state Dental Assistant license or certification (if applicable).

  • CPR/BLS certification required.

  • X-ray certification (as required by state law).
