Primary Accountability

The Pharmacist is responsible for performing various functions related to the Pharmacy Department.

Pharmacist 

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for performing functions related to the Pharmacy Department. 
    • Receives prescription orders from providers.
    • Verifies patient specific information and reviews/enters data into the pharmacy practice management system.
    • Process labels for new and refill medications. 
    • Evaluates, selects, procures, and distributes prescriptions to patients.
    • Conducts Drug Utilization Review (DUR) and make suggestions for appropriate alternative medication to providers for patient safety. 
    • Consults with patients and providers to ensure the proper prescription is dispensed.
    • Provides patient counseling and professional consultation.
    • Maintains daily and weekly reports. 
    • Completes third party rejections. 
    • Oversees cash register operations and verifies daily deposits.
    • Monitors pharmacy security and day to day pharmacy operations.
    • Fills schedule II prescriptions and maintains perpetual inventory log.
    • Transfers prescriptions to other pharmacies as per patient request and documents on   original prescription.
    • Monitors prescriptions in will call area and performs return to stock (RTS). 
  2. Responsible for maintaining prescription medication inventory levels.
    • Orders medications through software system.
    • Verifies merchandise against invoices upon delivery from vendors. Controlled medications to be counted and verified to match invoices.  
    • Return outdated/expired, damaged, over stock, and recalled merchandise for credit and proper disposal.  
  3. Responsible for performing Medication Management Therapy for clinic patients per clinical protocols.
  4. Responsible for functioning as a Pharmacist-In-Charge in the absence of designated Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC).
  5. Ensures Pharmacy compliance with all state and federal regulations as well as Family HealthCare Network policies.
  6. Functions as a Pharmacy Tech or Pharmacy Clerk, as directed.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Description of Primary Attributes

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

  1. Performance of the duties and responsibilities of the job requires the equivalent of extensive formal training in Pharmacy studies, including an understanding of the application of the theory and practices of the profession to the operations of the organization, usually in the form of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Technical Skills:

  1. Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents. 
  2. Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or link multiple worksheets and workbooks.
  3. Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.

Licenses & Certifications: 

  1. Licensed in the state of California as a Pharmacist.  

Communications Skills:

  1. Requires the employee to effectively communicate their professional opinions and extrapolations of information they collect and synthesize/analyze.
  2. Employees must determine appropriate methods of communicating information through the use of tables, graphs, charts and other visual forms. 
  3. Duties require the preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.

Pay Scale:

$67.99 - $106.10 + PLUS SIGNIFICANT EARNING POTENTIAL .Generous health and wellness benefits and retirement packages also offered.
