OVERVIEW

The Pharmacist In Charge is responsible for overseeing and leading the pharmacists and their day-to-day operational needs with the dispensing of prescription medication as required in meeting the needs and requirements of a long-term care pharmacy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining workflow in the department, monitoring its productivity and performance, and ensuring that all run times are met.
  • Coordinate the daily pharmacist process including all dispensing situations and requirements as specified in current policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and post pharmacist work schedule and promptly including specific job assignments.
  • Responding and following up on all inquiries on Polaris Direct and Email
  • Provide customer service by triaging requests according to priority.
  • Resolve customer issues; ensuring accurate information is provided.
  • Work with compliance technicians to ensure physicians are following up with written scripts for verbal CIIs. Report to DEA when necessary.
  • Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by internal staff and external customers
  • Ensure all deliveries are sent timely
  • Manage backorders verify legitimacy, attempt alternatives, and contact facility.
  • Ensure the Prepack RPH check is caught up
  • Ensure that all pharmacists are appropriately trained according to current policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of facility policies and procedures as relates to pharmacy services.
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
  • Monitor daily workflow (PV1, PV2, Pre-pack check, clarifications) to ensure it is caught up. Responsible for the flow of work and appropriate outcomes

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Pharmacist license active and in good standing in the State of practice required
  • Management experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree or Pharmacy Doctorate from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Perform accurately and efficiently when dispensing prescription medications
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evening, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience using FrameworkLTC
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in a Long-Term Care and/or Post-Acute care or one (1) year experience as a production pharmacist preferred (not required). Experience and knowledge base of intravenous admixtures services and intravenous therapy desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills with English as the primary language.
  • Ability to work independently as well as working in a team environment, meets deadlines, establish priorities, and be flexible, work under pressure with multiple tasks. Must have strong organizational, customer service, and time management skills, ability to problem solve.
  • This position must exhibit maturity in judgment, will work under the Pharmacy Manager.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY

  • Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.
  • Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.
  • Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.

Please note we are a long-term care pharmacy open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. And schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
