How you make a difference





The Psychiatrist is responsible for managing the admission, continuing care, and discharge of patients, including completing initial psychiatric assessments, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medication as necessary. They provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary treatment team and participate in performance improvement and other activities. The Staff Psychiatrist must possess strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work under stress and make sound judgments in a fast-paced environment. 







Key Responsibilities





  • Assume responsibility for admission, continuing care, and discharge of patients, including completing initial psychiatric assessments, developing and updating individualized treatment and discharge plans with the interdisciplinary treatment team. 
  • Prescribe psychotropic drugs and other modalities, follow up and monitor tests and consultations, provide education and diagnosis to patients and families, and supervise overall medical care received by patients. 
  • Conduct daily rounds, complete treatment and discharge summaries, and ensure proper documentation of all services provided in the patient's medical record. 
  • Participate in performance improvement and other activities, including attending department meetings, assigned workgroups, and committees, and continuing professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences, and self-study. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, cultural diversity issues, care and treatment needs of patients of different ages, and principles of critical thinking to apply to practical and emergent situations while working under stress. 






Qualifications & Requirements





Education

  • A MD from an accredited university. 

Experience

  • At least one (1) year experience in clinical psychiatry. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed in the state of practice.  Board certified or eligible in psychiatry.
