About this role






The Psychiatrist provides a comprehensive range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders. Additionally, the Psychiatrist provides clinical consultation to mental health and health care staff on identified cases, ensuring high-quality mental health care for inmates. Overall, the position requires a strong commitment to providing compassionate care, sound clinical judgment, and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams. 









What you bring to the table






Education

  • Doctorate in psychiatry.

Experience

  • Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Physician who is licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
  • CPR Certified.








What you will do






  • Provide psychiatric services to inmate patients, including evaluations, treatment, and monitoring of psychotropic medications in compliance with professional and company policies and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure uniformity of mental health services and documentation of psychiatric services. 
  • Provide supervision and oversight to psychiatric nurse (if applicable) and consultation/training services to mental health and medical staff. 
  • Participate in involuntary medication of high-risk inmates and provide documentation of psychiatric services contacts as requested. 
  • Exercise independent medical judgment in diagnosis and treatment of patients while adhering to approved medication formulary and notifying appropriate staff of clinical or administrative concerns. 






Qualifications & Requirements





Education

  • Doctorate in psychiatry.

Experience

  • Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Physician who is licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
  • CPR Certified.
