JOB SUMMARY:


The Psychologist shall provide psychological services within the guiding principles of Ralph Scott Lifeservices mission, including the principles of best practice and normalization.  May provide services as well through contracts with individuals not otherwise served by RSL. In addition, the Psychologist shall direct and oversee the activities of Behavioral Specialists in assisting with the provision of services provided under the RSL umbrella.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs formal and informal psychological evaluations for the individuals of Ralph Scott Lifeservices’ ICF group homes and individuals receiving Innovations supports (specialized consultative services).
  • Provides recommendations projecting psychological and behavioral needs of the individuals supported.
  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team.  As a team member, the Psychologist will assist in the development of an Individual Program Plan for each individual needing services.
  • Develops behavioral goal plans and guidelines for each individual needing behavioral supports.  These goals and guidelines shall be based on the individual’s quantifiable objectives as determined by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provides behavioral services as outlined in the Individual Program Plan for each individual.
  • Conducts in-service training for behavior plans and guidelines as appropriate.
  • Provides written documentation of services provided and reviews of behavior plan data in each individual’s record according to the Individual Program Plan, ICF, and Innovations standards. 
  • Maintains familiarity with ICF and Innovations standards. Psychologist provides services according to these standards and best professional practice.  Maintains adequate professional contacts for training and technical support.
  • Protects and preserves the confidential nature of all consumer information to which the Psychologist has access.  Shares information with individuals on a need-to-know basis and in compliance with North Carolina Confidentiality Rules APSM 45-1.
  • Agrees to avoid any action or situation which may present a conflict of interest or may have the appearance of impropriety.
  • Attends Quarterly Psychiatric meetings for ICF and other specified individuals. Provides appropriate documentation of behavior data concerning individual’s health for ICF and other specified individuals.

ROUTINE REQUIRED FUNCTIONS:

  • Will serve as a role model for individuals served by RSL.
  • Maintains an active awareness of cultural diversity of individuals and other employees and works to accommodate that diversity.
  • Will become familiar with the RSL Policy and Procedure Manual and with RSL Bloodborne Pathogens/TB Infectious Disease Plan, OSHA, & HIPAA.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology from an accredited institution and two years’ experience in the provision of psychological, behavioral, and assessment services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Trainees may be considered, but all candidates must be eligible for, and subsequently fulfill all requirements for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Psychological Associate under provisions specified by the Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) 
  • Management prefers two years experience in the provision of psychological, behavioral, and assessment services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Must have own transportation for use on RSL business.
