Indiana Donor Network is currently hiring a Referral Response Coordinator to play a vital role in the donation process. Key responsibilities include:

  • Respond onsite to assigned hospitals in a timely manner to assess donation potential for possible referrals and follows up on active referrals
  • Provides multidisciplinary donation education to hospital team members
  • Collaboratively follows up on variances
  • Maintains appropriate record keeping in order to sustain and/or improve service delivery to the hospital and Indiana Donor Network, as well as improve donation and transplant outcomes from hospitals in the designated service area
  • Participates on projects or committees that enhance or improve the overall success or culture of the organization

This is a night-shift position. The primary schedule will be 12-hour shifts, alternating 3 shifts one week and 4 shifts the next. The position will cover a territory in northwestern Indiana. 

 

Qualifications

An minimum of an associate's degree in a clinical area such as nursing, respiratory therapy, or another related field is required. Previous exposure to a critical care delivery setting is strongly preferred. Professional experience in the donation community is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates basic level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to use and maintain a contact database.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to exercise tact and represent the organization in a professional manner at all times.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with a variety of people and personalities, and ability to embrace diversity.
  • Effective written communication skills. Must be accurate with data input and when preparing correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality for all donation-related information including contributor gift history.
  • Demonstrates creative problem solving and delegating skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn the essential aspects of organ and tissue donor screening, the clinical management of an organ donor and comprehensive organ and tissue donation processes.
  • Ability to negotiate with hospital and Indiana Donor Network staff as an advocate for the process of donation in order to obtain, secure and implement any vital service that would contribute to the successful completion of the donation process.
  • Ability to work effectively with all Indiana Donor Network departments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate hospital meetings where attendance is required.
  • Ability to comprehend the various federal and non-federal regulatory requirements governing Indiana Donor Network, hospitals and transplant centers in order to contribute to maintain regulatory compliance and/or certification.
  • Must have a valid Indiana driver’s license.
  • General understanding of disease processes and how they affect organ function.
  • Ability to understand thorough physical and neurological assessments.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to interpret lab values, chest x-rays and CT results to recognize abnormalities
  • and to appropriately treat abnormal values.
  • Knowledge of fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical ventilation.
  • Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring.
