Job Summary:


Provides pharmaceutical care to patients served by the community pharmacies. Compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures and dispenses medicines and preparations. Responsible in all areas of pharmaceutical practice to provide medication information to the medical staff, hospital staff, patients, and community. Works under minimal supervision, uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors. Mentors and trains staff on technical skills.


Job Requirements:



Education and Work Experience:



  • Graduate of school of pharmacy: Required

  • Bachelor's Degree: Preferred

  • One year's technical experience: Preferred

  • One year's retail pharmacy experience: Preferred




Licenses/Certifications:



  • Pharmacist license in the state of practice: Required

  • All licensures and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a Pharmacist at the state level: Required

  • Registered Pharmacist (RPH): Required




Facility Specific License/Certifications:



  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required




Essential Functions:



  • Prepares and/or supervises the preparation and dispensing of medication orders/prescriptions. Orders and maintains medication supplies. Interprets and transcribes prescriptions and obtains immediate clarification when necessary.

  • Supervises support staff in the transcription and preparation of prescription medications. Assists in training by reviewing work and by answering questions.

  • Monitors and reviews patients' drug regimens/profile for possible drug interactions, incompatibilities, allergies, etc. Contacts the prescriber as necessary to clarify/rectify identified problems. Maintains knowledge of over-the-counter products and provide appropriate consultation to patients.

  • Maintains records required to meet third-party payers, laws and regulations.

  • Assists with quality assurance monitoring, data collection and continual accreditation preparedness. Individuals experiencing exposed rashes, sunburn, weeping sores, conjunctivitis, active respiratory infections or other communicable disease, or those wearing cosmetics, nail polish, or artificial nails shall be excluded from the ISO Class 5 and ISO Class 7 compounding areas until their conditions are remedied.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
