Retail Staff Pharmacist
Location: Strong-Hurt Pharmacy, Henderson, TX | Reports to: Pharmacy Manager


Position Overview

As a Retail Staff Pharmacist at TotalDose, you’ll be more than a dispenser — you’ll be a trusted care provider, clinical expert, and community health advocate. Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, you’ll be responsible for accurately verifying, preparing, and dispensing prescribed medications while maintaining full compliance with regulatory standards. You'll also play a key role in patient education, inventory management, and supporting our pharmacy team to deliver exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities

Prescription Services

  • Review and accurately dispense medications according to prescriptions from authorized providers.
  • Prepare and package prescriptions with attention to correct dosage, labeling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Counsel patients on proper use, side effects, and storage of medications.

Clinical Care & Patient Engagement

  • Administer immunizations, perform point-of-care testing, and deliver medication therapy management services based on location offerings.
  • Provide patients with disease-state education and promote wellness through meaningful conversations.

Inventory & Operations

  • Order, receive, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies to ensure optimal stock levels and compliance.
  • Ensure medications are stored and handled appropriately, including cold chain and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate prescription records and ensure proper billing documentation.

Team Collaboration

  • Support and mentor pharmacy technicians and team members to ensure quality and consistency in service.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for physicians, staff, and patients regarding drug availability, interactions, and updates.

Other

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the pharmacy’s mission and community impact.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy (Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy - PharmD)

Experience

  • Previous experience in retail or clinical pharmacy preferred, but not required.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must be licensed as a Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, or able to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Must obtain a Texas State Preceptor License within one year of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and pharmacy software systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, dispensing, and documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow written instructions and technical material
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients, providers, and coworkers
  • Self-motivated with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
  • Capable of leading and directing pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations and professional standards
